MIUI has gone a long way in the last two years, and while the interface has received much-needed facelift and a myriad of new features, it still has some problems that still exist. Push notifications continue to be a significant problem in MIUI thanks to Xiaomi’s aggressive memory management, but there is a solution. Here’s how to fix push notifications on MIUI.
How to fix push notifications on MIUI
To get around MIUI memory management, you must select automatic start for applications that do not send push notifications.
If you don’t see certain apps listed on autostart or still have problems with notifications, you should disable built-in battery optimization. Doing so will ensure that applications are not limited by MIUI memory management.
Selecting the No restrictions mode is the best way to prevent MIUI from turning off applications that are running in the background. This is also a method that has worked for me for years with Gmail and Slack. That said, my Mi 10 Pro won’t give notice even after activating autostart and disabling battery optimization, and I have to wait for a software update to improve things.
MIUI 12 must fix this problem once and for all. But for now, if you experience problems with push notifications on MIUI, this is the best way to resolve the issue.
